Clients

I’ve hired some amazing virtual designers for my own projects, so I trust the process. I know what a difference it makes in my business when I have high quality people on my team – regardless of location.

We’ll start with a 30-minute phone call or Skype to be sure it’s a good fit, get a feel for your organization and goals, and finalize the project terms. Then I’ll send you a questionnaire to fill out. The more thorough your answers, the better I can understand what you need. I’ll put together a framework for the project and communicate with regular progress updates to be sure things are moving in the direction you want.

I work with clients from all over the United States. That’s the beauty of a virtual business – we can accomplish some pretty amazing things together whether we ever meet in person or not.

I mostly work with small businesses, solopreneurs, and established non-profits. I understand what it takes to run each of these types of organizations and can relate to your challenges.

I’m always up for a challenge. I specialize in technical, B2B, and academic type content. I also like writing conversational copy such as articles and newsletters. Some writers don’t like to tackle the harder topics, but I enjoy researching and learning about new fields.

With that said, though, sometimes people just click and you know it’s the right fit even if it’s not within those typical parameters.

To be crystal clear:

I DO write content (articles, newsletters, technical reports, website copy, etc.) for:

  • businesses
  • solopreneurs
  • non-profits.

I DO offer strategic planning, grant mentoring, and consulting for:

  • freelancers wanting to learn grant writing
  • non-profits who want to DIY their grants but need a little guidance.

I do NOT write grants for:

  • individuals
  • for-profit businesses
  • start-ups of any kind
  • non-profits that don’t have their 501(c)(3) status yet or multiple sources of income.

I want to make sure you are protected and completely certain I’ll deliver the work. After you decide on the package or services you need, I’ll send you a contract to review and sign. (It’s all digital – nothing cumbersome like printing or scanning.)

The contract will outline things like the work to be done, responsibilities of each party, timeline, payment plan, and confidentiality. You’ll be able to review it completely (and I hope you do!) before signing. Once everyone has signed, you’ll receive a copy via email for your records.

Content Writing

Content writing is informative, educational, and useful to the reader. You walk away feeling like you’ve learned something. Think white papers, e-books, or newsletter articles.

Copywriting, a similar term you may have heard, is geared toward getting the reader to take action. Think landing pages, sales funnels, or campagin postcards.

There is a time and place for both; each one has value in its own right. My teaching background is ingrained in me, so my sweet spot is in the content writing arena.

  • Do your clients ever look at you with a blank stare, even after you’ve explained the same concept three times in a row?
  • Does it take you hours to put your thoughts on paper in a logical format that clearly conveys your message, and even then it doesn’t sound right?
  • Are you so swamped that you hardly have time to return a text, let alone draft a blog post or report?
  • Does your content require a lot of explanation, supportive research, or teaching your clients?
  • Do you keep promising yourself, “I’ll start publishing a regular newsletter. Soon.” But still no newsletter in sight?
  • Do you keep hitting brick walls with potential funders?

If you answered yes to even ONE of these, then you probably need a content writer.

Grant Consulting

Yes, you can! Jump right in. At this point, all my classes are self-paced so you can start anytime. The 1:1 coaching spots are limited; however, I do my best to make sure you’ll have a spot when you’re ready to schedule a coaching session.

There are some really high quality classes available to learn grant writing. And, unfortunately, some not-so-quality. You should choose the course and instructor that resonates the most with you and your learning style.

My classes have two distinct elements that you won’t find in most online courses:

  1. Personalization.

You can select a course with a 1:1 coaching option, and/or you can tailor the homework to your organization instead of a hypothetical situation. I want to create takeaways that are as practical and useful as possible for you.

  2. Accountability.

I’ll be checking up on you, so you better do your homework!

I strive for excellence in pretty much everything. Like grant writing, course creation is a case where my annoyingly high attention to detail comes in handy!

Glad you asked! I hear so many people say they…

  • …wish they knew where to find grants for their organization, but have no idea where to start.
  • …want to try for bigger grants, but it seems so overwhelming and scary.
  • …write proposals that keep getting rejected, but they can’t figure out what they need to do differently.
  • …can’t really afford to hire a full time grant writer, but their staff could handle smaller applications if they just had a little training.

I’ve developed a series of online classes designed to meet people at all levels of their grant writing experience. My courses cover:

  • how to find grants – the right grants – for your non-profit.
  • the step-by-step process I use to write a solid grant proposal.
  • realistic budgets and effective project management.
  • insider secrets about grants that I spent 15+ years figuring out.
  • how to set up your own grant writing business.
  • and SO. MUCH. MORE. to come.

I’d love your input as I’m developing the next round of courses, so please drop me a line at Teresa@AdeoDevelopment.com to let me know what you need help with!

No one knows your  organization better than your own staff. On-site professional development allows you to:

  • Invest in your organization’s capacity.
  • Build staff confidence in seeking grant funds.
  • Learn research strategies tailored to meet your needs.
  • Increase skills through hands-on guided practice.
  • Maximize staff time by conducting the session on-site.

A variety of teaching methods will allow you to retain the information better, receive guided practice, and ask questions relevant to your organization.

Grant funders don’t want to be your first dollar or your only dollar. Be sure you have:

  • Several diverse sources of funding already coming in.
  • Solid community support and volunteerism.
  • At least two years as a 501(c)(3) non-profit status.
  • Vision and mission statements.
  • A working board of directors.
  • Some programs already in place that are serving the community in measurable ways.

If you aren’t sure, ask me. Fill out the contact form below and I’ll help you determine your readiness.

You bet! Check out the Grants Accelerator where I’ll walk you through the steps of preparing a proposal. With a little training you can learn to handle smaller grant applications yourself.

I also provide project review services if you need someone experienced to look over the application and provide feedback before you submit it.

I’m pretty involved in local community outreach and church projects. Since my volunteer time is already designated, I can’t take on additional pro bono work. I’m happy to answer brief email questions and help direct you to appropriate resources.

“If you don’t know where you’re going, you’ll never know when you get there.” You probably started your organization in order to provide a much-needed service to your community. A clear vision, well-crafted strategic plan, and implementation steps will allow you to achieve maximum efficiency and impact. Your team will maintain focus and direction when the goals are clearly aligned.

Payments

Payments are handled through the secure FreshBooks system. You may pay by credit card, ACH, or check. Ongoing projects are billed on the 1st and 15th of each month.

For larger projects, payments will be split into 2-3 increments depending on the project scope and timeline. We’ll be sure this is crystal clear before any work begins.
